Reporting a wrong figure
This is the one we most want to hear about. The wheel data feeds gear inches, gain ratio and speed at cadence alike, so a single wrong row would put three calculations out at once — and it would do it quietly, because every page would still agree with every other page.
Report a figure that looks wrong, and if you can, include:
- Which page
- The calculator you were using.
- What you entered
- The exact values in each box — the tyre size especially.
- What it showed, and what you expected
- Both numbers. A disagreement is much easier to trace than a description of one.
- Where your expected figure comes from
- A standard, a manufacturer's specification, or a measurement. This is not a demand for proof — it is what lets us work out whether the difference is an error, a rounding convention, or two definitions of the same word.
We check reported figures against the underlying standard rather than against our own table, and we will tell you what we found whether or not it turns out we were wrong.
Anything else
Questions about a calculation, a wheel size we do not cover yet, or a computation you think belongs here: the same address. We do not answer questions about whether particular parts fit together — the about page explains why that is deliberate rather than a gap.
What happens to your message
It arrives as ordinary email and is kept only as long as it takes to deal with it and to check the fix. It is not added to a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to add it to. Theprivacy notice covers this in full.
