Privacy notice
The short version: the calculators run entirely in your browser, and this site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Who is responsible
Dennis Edinburgh is the data controller for this site. For anything in this notice, including a request about your own data, write tocontact@bikegearing.com.
What the calculators do with what you type
Nothing leaves your browser. Every figure on this site is computed on your own device from the values you enter; they are not sent anywhere, not stored, and not present in the page's address — so they are not in your browser history, and they do not reach this site's host or anyone else. Close the tab and they are gone.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser's local storage. There is no analytics, no tag manager, no session tracking and no fingerprinting. The typefaces are served from this domain rather than from a font service, so loading a page does not tell a third party that you visited.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which acts as our processor. Like any web host, it necessarily handles the IP address and request details of each visit in order to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse. We do not collect or retain those logs, and we build no profile from them.
Where your data goes
Cloudflare operates a global network, so a request for this site is served by whichever of its locations is nearest you, and the request details described above are handled there. That may be outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Cloudflare's own data-processing terms and transfer safeguards apply; we add no further transfer of our own, because we hold nothing.
Email you send us
If you write to us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you and — where you have reported a wrong figure — to check the correction. It is not used for anything else, not added to any list, and not shared. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: replying to someone who has chosen to write to us, and fixing what they told us about.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, ask us to restrict how we use it, and object to our using it. In practice the only personal data this site holds is email you have sent us. Write to the address above and we will answer.
If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk, or to your own national supervisory authority if you are elsewhere in Europe.
Children
This site is a set of calculators for cyclists and is not directed at children. Browsing it collects nothing that identifies anyone, of any age; the only personal data we ever hold is an email someone has chosen to send us.
Changes
When this notice changes, the date above changes with it. Anything that alters what is collected — advertising going live, most obviously — is a change to this page, not a change made quietly behind it.
